Hello Annie

Having arrived at OT Tambo International Airport from Zambia, at around three in the afternoon, we, as quickly as possible, rented a car and made our way to Haartbeespoort for the evening. Traffic, that day, through Pretoria, was somewhat busy and, after making at least one wrong turn, we made it to the Haartbeespoort Dam as the sun was going down. Haartbeespoort is one of our favorite spots to stay on our way to Pilanesberg, Glen Afric, the new Lion and Safari Park, and other attractions.

We arrived in town at around six in the evening. The sun had just set. We made it through the quiet streets while it was dusk to one of our favorite Bed and Breakfasts. To our dismay, however, the facility had closed and we were left wondering where to stay, and who would take us in. Our first thought was to ask for help and we drove to a small shopping center where a very kind and helpful shopkeeper at FOODZONE recommended us to you. He even called you on his cell phone, taking time from other customers, and had me speak with you personally. We made it easily and safely to your Romantic Getaway; Annies House.

We found your Bed and Breakfast easily, even though it was dark, and followed your instructions making it past the gate and up to Annies House. We were very happy, to say the least, to have accommodation for the night. What made our welcome special was the interest you took in us, and willingness to call for reservations, at STEF’S PLACE, a romantic restaurant where you were going, not far from where Annies House is located on Scott Street, the main road through town.

Annie, we became instant friends, and the room you assigned to us was very relaxing. It is always good to have a clean room and sheets and especially a comfy bed. After sleeping through the night we were served a very special breakfast; made especially for us—I ate everything on my plate and Leslye saved part of her meal for lunch. We enjoyed sitting and looking at the great view of the dam.

I know that you are very proud of your staff who keep Annies House and grounds spotless, and, serve a great breakfast. We are so thankful to you for taking care of us ‘after hours’ and for making our time in Haartbeespoort, and South Africa, a time to remember. Our conversations with you that night and in the morning made us believers that you truly want your establishment to be a Romantic Getaway for all. We also enjoyed talking about our countries of origin, friends and family, and especially how we appreciate meeting new people who happen to come our way.

Thanks Annie, we will see you again—soon, I hope.
